Get Acquainted Day Thank You!

April 17, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you all for a wonderful Get Acquainted Day! It was energizing to see the personality and many talents of our community on full display—all in support of our Class of 2027. A common refrain throughout the weekend was just how much our prospective students and their families enjoyed getting to know our faculty, staff, and current students, and how encouraged they are by the deeply personal education we offer here at Gettysburg. It truly takes every one of us to enroll a new class of students.

To that point, I received a note from a parent of a student who committed to the College on Sunday. The parent noted how friendly everyone was during GAD, and the help he and his daughter received from members of our dedicated admissions team, library staff, and faculty, as well as from current students. The email summarized the family’s experience by saying this: “During our debrief on the ride home, we couldn’t find a single aspect of the college we weren’t inspired by.”

Lastly, I’d like to extend a special thanks to Carey Thompson, Gail Sweezey, Kathryn Adams, and our entire admissions and financial aid teams for their remarkable efforts this year. As you know, GAD is a big day in our prospective students’ decision-making process, but we should never overlook the fact that students are drawn to Gettysburg College due to the culmination of great work over months—even years—by our enrollment division. We are fortunate to have such an exceptional group of colleagues charged with shaping our next class of Gettysburgians!

Thank you so much!

With gratitude,

Bob
